A new Lauren Blakely novel is my happy place, and I’ve lost count of how many times this author’s writing has made me smile, made me sigh or made me happy. She’s entertained me, she’s made my heart race, and she’s made me blush. It all comes down to the simple fact that for me, Blakely writes the kind of romantic fiction that not only keeps me coming back to her work time and time again, but also reminds me of why I love this genre so much. Sexy, light-hearted and fun, her romantic comedies are exactly the types of romances that I prefer to read. All of this coupled with the fact that she consistently delivers this reading pleasure with astonishing regularity, and it’s no surprise that she’s earned a spot at the top of my favorite authors list.

Once Upon a Real Good Time is the first book in Blakely’s new Heartbreakers series of romantic comedies about three rock star brothers. This is Campbell and Mackenzie’s story, both of whom are single parents, which is a favorite theme of mine. I especially love single dad heroes, and Campbell was an involved, caring, devoted one. He was sexy and so swoon-worthy with his sultry crooning and his filthy dirty talk. Not to be outdone, Mackenzie was a confident, sexy and doting single mom in her own right, and she gave just as good as she got in the dirty talk department. The chemistry between the two of them was instantaneous and white hot. They bonded immediately, and their effortless rapport along with some flirty banter and witty dialogue resulted in a once-in-a-lifetime connection that made Campbell and Mackenzie’s romance a completely unputdownable page-turner.

Blakely continually feeds my romcom addiction with charming plots, endearing characters and steamy romances, but if this heartwarming, heated and humorous story is any indication of what’s to come, the Heartbreakers series may very well end up topping my list of favorites from her. I loved absolutely everything about this breezy, happy, fun romance. A touch forbidden, smolderingly sexy and a whole lot sweet, Once Upon a Real Good Time was exactly the kind of heart-soaring, smile-stretched-across-my-face, blush-inducing romcom that I love reading most from Lauren Blakely. I couldn’t get enough of these characters or their story, and I had a hard time putting it down. Once Upon a Real Good Time by Lauren Blakely get five smooches from me!

Smiling broadly, I am happy to report that my Queen of Feelgood love has done it again. With Once Upon a Real Good Time, Lauren Blakely proves she is the master of combining the most tender of romances with the the very best in dirty talking without missing a beat. Oh my goodness. I just adore Campbell and Mackenzie. These two thirty-something professionals who simply cannot resist one another, have a chemistry that is white-hot and intoxicating. Their love story goes from zero to sixty within a few hours and there was no denying that pull, that intense attraction that had the former teen heartthrob and the graphic designer sighing heavily after the most satisfying of trysts.

But what is most wonderful about this book is that the Author allows the heroine to be just as dirty in her thoughts and her actions as the hero and not only is it the best turn-on for Campbell but gives Mack that sexy edge she thought she lost. It was great to watch her get her groove back after deciding that being the best Mom to her son Kyle was her top priority. Meeting Campbell, himself a single Dad, gave her the boost she needed and holy moly, did she ever take full advantage of it. Their wicked banter and steamy encounters was the foreplay to the deeper relationship that was developing as their limited time together turned more serious and gave both Mack and Campbell a surprising love they thought was long gone from their lives.

And, of course, the addition of some secondary characters like Jamison, Roxy and Samantha, give this story the richness that the Author continually delivers. Each play a role in helping Mack and Campbell come to the best conclusion possible when it comes to their relationship. Not to mention the few Easter Eggs I found that always makes me happy when reading a Blakely book. Oh and Campbell's brothers are a definite highlight, giving him both a hard time and a pep talk when needed and I look forward to their stories next.

This first book in the Heartbreakers series is a win-win all the way and Lauren Blakely proves yet again that she can combine sex with heart like no other. Once Upon a Real Good Time is the perfect read when you need fun and flirty with a side of warm and fuzzy. A story that is full of goodness and passion, I happily give it a solid 5 stars!!
